The Norden Bomb Sight Maintenance / Calibration Manual Introduction: ' Upon the shoulders of the bombsight maintenance personnel rests the responsibility of accurate calibration and maintenance and to that extent the success or failure of a bombing mission. You cannot and must not make any attempt to shift that responsibility. It turns out that the famous Norden bombsight was not only U.S. Bombsight of World War II. The first bombsight accepted by the Government was the Sperry S-1 that was developed in the 1930's. It was designated as 'standard' equipment in March 1941 and was used in some U.S. Army Air Forces bombers early in World War II, primarily B-24 Liberators. This book belonged to my father, John E. Voisin. He trained as a bombardier at Carlsbad, New Mexico.

This is an outstanding site--and this set of documents is particularly interesting. I just sent a link to this to a former bombardier of the 95th BG. Thanks for keeping this site updated so regularly.

Dad was a bombardier with the 95th Bomb Group (H). I am part of the AZ Wing of the CAF and am doing some research on the Norden that is part of our B-17G 'Sentimental Journey'. We are trying to maintain and restore the onboard systems as accurately as is feasible.
Thanks for the great resource!
